Class Description:
This course will teach students about vocabulary and working on the computer. The Windows environment will be addressed. Students will be taught how to save files, to utilize Windows Explore, and to find programs.
Students will find it helpful to have at least a slight knowledge of the keyboard and mouse.

Students will be taught to send and receive e-mail, to set up individuals and groups in the address book, to open, save, and send attachments and pictures, and to file messages in new folders. Downloading Zone Alarm firewall for protection as well as utilizing Mail-2-Web checking for e-mail from a different location will also be addressed.
Students should have familiarity with the keyboard

Students will be taught to write letters and word documents in paragraph form. Editing and formatting documents will also be addressed. Cut/copy and paste will be used.
Students MUST come to the class with a knowledge of the keyboard and control over the mouse. Understanding how to set up files and folders is also important when students enroll in this class.

Students will learn to create brochures and newsletters. They will work with elaborate layouts that require arranging text, pictures, and headlines or captions. How to handle layouts, color and fonts as well as adding other embellishments such as mini-calendars and reply forms will be addressed.
Students must come to class with full control of the keyboard and mouse as well as being comfortable with copy/paste and file skills.

Windows Media Player is a program that is included with the Windows operating system. It allows one to copy music into his computer and create his own music CDs. This fast-moving class introduces Excel by showing how a worksheet can present data in a logical, easily-understood manner.

Beyond the Basic Word

This class will address such items as creating labels for a large mailout, creating a table, creating a document with columns, and other rather complex skills. Consequently, the student should be familiar with Word and should have used it often for at least six months before taking this course. The instructor will not have the time to help those who come without the preparation.
